From the Coach

I wanted to give you greater information about our wonderful facilities:

The Waitzman Track and Field Performance Center is the new home to the track and field program, allowing the team to meet for pre- and post-practice workouts and training. The new space also includes coaches' offices, a video review area and room to hold study-hall for the student-athletes.

The Rooney Performance Center, a 28,000-square foot recreation space, will feature four multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball and tennis, and will help the Mount's Division I athletic programs while increasing intramural sport and recreational opportunities. The track and field team will move into the Dillon Field House, as the space will be transformed into the team's dedicated indoor practice facility with a resurfaced floor and new pits.

99% of our incoming freshman are awarded merit aid, with an average financial aid package for the class of 2023 totalling $35,867. You can find more information about your financial aid options by clicking here → .

When it comes to making a college decision, on the team side of things, something every recruit wants to know, is simply, “will I fit in?” Can I be myself and thrive on this team? I’m not Catholic, does that matter at a Catholic University?

Coaches and athletes dance around questions like these throughout the recruiting process. I want to make it easy upfront, if you can check these three boxes, then you will fit in and thrive in our program.

  1. You have to care deeply about improving your performance, and willing to make sacrifices to get better. Everything we do is about helping you run faster, throw further, and jump higher and further.
  2. You have to care about growing as a human person. There will be point in your life when no one will care what you did as an athlete. When that moment comes, who you are will matter more than anything. Are you courageous? Are you selfless? Can you focus and endure? Are you a person who can look in the mirror and make a change? Everything we do is about helping you grow into a better person.
  3. You have to be able to live and work on an incredibly diverse team. That diversity certainly includes racial and ethnic diversity, but also cultural, political, religious, country vs city, etc, etc. There will be people like you on the team, and there will be people very different from you on the team.

We have a lot of fun in this program. We share in each other’s joys, successes, and failures. We work our tails off to win conference titles and qualify for the NCAA championships. Our mission is an authentic Catholic one, where chasing excellence in running, jumping, and throwing excellence can help you become the person God is asking you to become.
